Former Nazi fliegerhorst Münster-Handorf was one of the first Luftwaffe airfields, established in 1935. After WW2 it briefly became an allied airfield being used as a RAF garrison until 1949. Abandoned until 1960; then taken over by NL as HQ 1 (Nike) Missile Group 1960-1975. Also NL 119 Sqn (B-battery) 1 Msl Grp equipped with 40 Nike airdef missiles (12x Nuc. tipped).

Closed 1975 and later demolished. C section Handorf

Today little remains except some concrete areas and abandoned destroyed buildings in an industrial estate.
Current status: active used by bundeswehr and firebrigade as a training/exercise area.
