3520'27"N 9911'57"W Former Clinton Sherman airbase (now Clinton-Sherman Industrial Airpark)
Former Naval Air Stn Clinton was taken over by USAF and became ops in 1955.
USAF units: SAC B52 4123 Strategic Wing (1959-1963) and SAC B52 70th Bomb Wing (1963-1969). Both units manned in 24-hour watches a so alled "Xmas Tree" at grid 3521'38"N 9911'35"W The Xmas Tree was a standby area containing 8 nuclear-loaded B-52s ready to rock. Each carrying 4 nuc gravity bombs and later on 2 additional 'Hound Dog' standoff nuc missiles.
The near "Mole Hole" at grid 3521'33"N 9911'46"W was the underground crew alert facility for the standby force.
