Grand Forks airbase N.D activated 1956 as an Air Defence Cmd interceptor base and SAGE Data Center.
Over to Strategic Air Cmd in 1958 with 4133 Strat Wing (1958 1963) operating B-52G Stratofortress nuc armed with with AGM-28 Hound Dog missiles and later on AGM-69 Short Range Attack Missiles and AGM-86 airlaunched cruisemissiles supported by KC-135A tankers.
- 321 Strategic Missile Wing a Minuteman II ICBM base (1964-1998)
- 319 Bombardment Wing (Heavy), 1963 1993 operating B-52G/H Stratofortress and B-1B Lancer. Then reroled 319 Air Refuelling Wing, 1993 2011 and reroled again 319 Recon Wing, 2011 - Present day

Currently based:
- 319 Recon WIng as host and operating the RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft providing global all-weather, day/night intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capability.
