US Forces Japan Kadena Airbase is home to USAF's largest combat wing and a variety of associate units.
● 18 Wing is composed of 5 groups each with specific functions.

Kadena also hosts Marine Wing Liaison Kadena (MWLK); a USMC logistics and liaison unit.

- AFSOC / 353 Speial Operations Group with
-- 21st Spec Ops Squadron flying the CV-22B Osprey.
-- 320th Special Tactics Squadron consists of Combat Controllers, Pararescuemen, Combat Weather personnel and Survival Resistance and Escape specialists. Enabled by deployed- ready combat support personnel, the Special Tactics operators can rapidly infiltrate into remote or hostile areas
-- 353rd Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron provides consolidated fixed-wing maintenance for highly specialized combat-ready aircraft from multiple missions design series.
-- 353rd Special Operations Support Squadron contains and operates the logistics and operations planning support functions for the entire group.
-- 753rd Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron maintains the CV-22 Osprey, a tiltrotor aircraft
