9. NIKE Walker air defense area

Walker AFB air defense area (W): As a Strategic Air Command base, it was determined that Walker should be defended by a Nike Hercules battalion.
The 6/2d was activated at Walker in 1960; it was deactivated 6 months later without ever being declared operational.
