Former Soviet airbase with 170th Naval Shturmovik Aviation Regiment and 321st Naval Shturmovik Aviation Regiment,

Amari Airbase http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ee/Insignia_of_the_%C3%84mari_Airbase.svg is currently one of the few Eastern European NATO bases that can accommodate 5th generation fighters. Amari also hosted USAF F-22 Raptors and KC-135 air refueling tankers
The base has been upgraded and modernized for appx $14M and is hosting:
- Flight Grp; - Base Ops Grp; - Base Suppt Grp; - Base Ops Center; - Base Defence Center and - Training Center with 2 Aero L-39 Albatros jet trainers and 4 Robinson R44 trainer/patrol helicopters.
