- Sector Operations Control Center / Western Air Defense Sector (SOCC/WADS) is under Air Combat Cmd jurisdiction and Western Air Defense Sector (WADS) http://www.wads.ang.af.mil/ is responsible to the Continental US North American Aerospace Defense Command Region (CONR) and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) for peacetime air sovereignty, strategic air defense, and airborne counterdrug operations in the continental United States. WADS is a Washington ANG unit manned by ANG, Army, Navy, Civilians and Canadian Air Force personnel and operationally reports directly to First Air Force at Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. WADS is operating the Battle Control System-Fixed (BCS-F); a next-generation air sovereignty system, BCS-F fuses data from airborne, ground and naval elements and civil air traffic sensors into an integrated air picture as part of the Joint Surveillance System (JSS)
