BND Langen (Egelsbach)

Former USAF transmitting facility Langen serving Rhein/Main airbase for transatlantic comms until 2004.

As the airbase closed and was given back to the German authorities in 2005 the USAF transmitters were removed and went back to the US with the USAF personnel.

Consequently this facility was taken over by the Bundesnachrichtendienst and German listening and intercepting equipment was installed.
Currently the site is being used as a HF and Satcom intercept facility and a monitoring facility for cellular phonecalls.
