NATO CENTral Army Group HQ was located in this former WW2 bunker at Mannheim-Feudenheim.
Normally this facility - which looked like an office building- was manned up by some Signal Corps, G-2, and G-3 personal.
When CENTAG would have field exercises or War Games, the General Staff with MP security would be stationed here during the alert.
The area was small and somewhat out of the way, but no effort was made to camouflage it from the public.
Later on the facility was closed as the whole thing moved to Ruppersweiler.

I was stationed in Mannheim at the Bunker in 1960-63. Was an officer in the 175th Signal Company. Later it became the 521st Signal Company.

Both Phil and Mark were great friends at the Bunker.I haven't heard from either for around 50 years.
Thanks,

Sgt

Phillip
I happened across your post while searching for info on the bunker in Mannhiem. your description of the club location and the name Mark Frankly caught my attention. Mark was my best man at our wedding in 67. I was discharged in May of 67 and returned in October to get married.

I worked the day shift for the Warrant Officer..(can't remember his name).

Anyway, I'm excited to have discovered someone that was there.
Thank you
