Novofedorivka; a former Ukrainian airbase currently completely taken over and occupied by Russian forces.
Formerly this used to be a Soviet naval aviation (Black Sea fleet) base and also home to the only Soviet aircraft carrier landing trainer and test site, the Nazyemniy Ispitateiniy Treynirovochniy Kompleks Aviatsii (NITKA), with arresting gear and a ski-jump ramp that is a full-sized replica of the bow of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov.
During the 2008 South Ossetia War, the Ukrainian president stopped Russian pilots from using the carrier training facilities; this decision was reversed in 2010. In 2014 unknown rogue forces in uniforms without ranks or any other markings (in fact Spetznaz assault troops) completely took over this base.
