Former Lowry airbase 1938-1994. WW-2 Army Air Corps training base. After WW-2 reassigned from army Lowry Field to USAF airbase hosting Air Training Command. Also used as USAF academy until 1959 until Colorado Springs was ready.

Lowry became 1st Titan 1 ICBM base as construction of launchers and support facilities began in 1959. Missile deployment was in a in a 3 x 3 missile complex configuration with each complex had 3 silos grouped in close proximity to a manned launch control facility. Lowry had 18 Titan 1 missiles on 6 sites at grid:

451st replaced 703rd Strat Msl Wing 1961. The first wing missile complex was accepted 1962. All wing missiles went off alert status 1965 and the wing disbanded.
