Camp Sears has had a long history with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. The camp was originally named for Sgt. 1st Class Jerome Sears, a Korean War Silver Star recipient. Camp Sears was officially vacated by HHB/5-5 ADA on October 14, 2005 which had occuppied the camp since 1998. The 32-acre (130,000 m2) installation housed military and civilian personnel who provided combat support for the 2nd Infantry Division. Camp Sears was closed along with several other camps in South Korea as part of a downsizing of forces. The land was returned to the South Korean govt.
