The new backbone Selex RAT-31S radar air defense system was built between 2006 and 2009, replacing the Soviet equipment from the 1950s.
This new radar type FADR (Fixed Air Defence Radar) has a range of up to 600 kms and 30 kms high and monitors the airspace above the Czech Republic and also of the European NATO members
