Former Guardamar Navy Station (site 33) was a vital link in the US Navy submarine communications. This station used a 370m antenna to communicate on VLF with submerged units in the Mediterranean area and was also connected in the Medcom-Stratcom link with Soller (Baleares).
The station was decommissioned 2001 and is currently a Spanish Army (EDT) radar monitoring station.
