The Gendarmerie Nationale is an armed force with police tasking under command of the ministry of the interior and the ministry of defense. All its members however are military.
As of 1999 the gendarmerie school Châteaulin is implemented at Caserne de la Tour d'Auvergne - former 41e régiment d'infanterie.
