(IRIN) Abu Musa Island Naval Aviation base.
The Iranian Fleet Air Arm capability consists of
- 2 or 3 operational P-3(B) F Orion maritime patrol aircraft out of an original inventory of 5 and according to reports from the Gulf,
none of them have fully operational radars and their crews often use binoculars.
- 10 Sikorsky SH-3D ASW helicopters
- 3 RH-53D mine laying helicopters
- 7 Agusta-Bell AB-212 utility helicopters
They have no fixed location but may be depoyed from any airfield in coastal regions.

According to NGO reporting a study by the Monterey Institute indicates that Abu Musa Island is one of the locations with possible chemical and biological WMD storage facilities.
