3514'29"N 11641'35"W US Army Ft Irwin is the National Training Center
Activated in WW2 as Mojave Anti-Aircraft Range; renamed Camp Irwin; then Armored Combat Training Area; as of 1961 Fort Irwin and used deploying forces to Vietnam. As of 1972 California ArNG assumed responsibility and from 1972 -1980, Fort Irwin was used as a training area by the Army National Guard and US Army Reserve. As of 1981 transferred back to US Army as National Training Center
