MCAS Miramar (former NAS Miramar), located about 10 miles (16 km) north of downtown San Diego, California.
This was the former location of the Pacific Fleet fighter and Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft (F-4 Phantom II, F-14 Tomcat, E-2 Hawkeye) and was also wellknown as former location of the USN Fighter Weapons School (NFWS) a.k.a. the 'Topgun' training program. During that time, the station was nicknamed "Fightertown USA". In 1996, NFWS was relocated to NAS Fallon in Nevada and merged into the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC).

Current Miramar is a USMC Air Station and home to :
- 3 Marine Aircraft Wing, the aviation element of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
There is also an EW radar active within the base perimeter at lat 3252'37"N long 117 8'58"W
