Daryal-type (NATO: 'Pechora') http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cc/Daryal_Pechora_radar_concept.jpg bistatic phased-array early warning radar; ops since 1984 and used in Russian ABM system. Equivalent of former US Army Safeguard MSR radar.
Main features of this radar are an extremely high radiated power, use of phased array for both reception and transmission and digital processing of signals. The transmitter antenna dimensions are 30 x 40 meters. The antenna includes many central controlled transmitters inside.
The receiving antenna's dimensions are 80 x 80 meters. The radar worked in the meter bandwidth.
Facility has been replaced by a new Voronezh-M radar.
