Börfink. In the late 1950s, this was an Upper Area Control Center operated by USAF, GAF and RAF (Callsign "Cornbeef Control") located on the Erbeskopf. Then taken over by USAF 615th AC&W Sq. Primary mission was to operate and maintain all tactical control facilities assigned within its sector of responsibility and to furnish the Air Control Center with information to conduct air defense.. Secondary mission was participating in special missions (guidance in nuc strike retaliation missions) as directed by higher command.

Used tacticalls "Erwin" (by the Germans), "Waterhole", "Scandalize" and "Hardtire" (by NATO).
The complex comprised 4 separate areas:
- CRC/Ops Center in 2 large bunkers near the town of Börfink.
- Radar site at Erbeskopf, mountain.
- TX Site at Sandkopf mtn
- RX site at Ruppelstein mtn
NADGE CRC Tacticall "Hardtire" was former 2 ATAF SOC3, CRC site - built in 1960. Taken over by USAF 615th ACWS in 1961; on ops status 1962-1984. Taken over by GAF Fernmelderegiment 32 in 1986; on ops status 1986-1992. CRC deactivated 1992; only limited ops as a remote radar station until 2001 then deactivated. Reactivated again 2008 as remote radarpost 246 "Hardwheel" operating a single remaining Hughes Air Defense Radar
