In 1966 France - under pres. de Gaulle- left NATO and the base was taken over by the French army and renamed Quartier Mangin.
It hosted some (nuc) artillery units and the former Special Ammo Storage (doublefenced area at NE dispersal) of the 4th regiment artillery; this unit was equipped with Pluton Short Range Missiles and dissolved 1991
Later on it hosted 1er RAMA until relocation to Châlons-en-Champagne in 2012.
After base closure in 2012, the base is to be converted into an automobile racing circuit, supposed to be completed in 2015 but even in 2018 nothing.done
