Former Finthen Army Airfield. Manned by French army air force after WW2 and then taken over by US Army.
-1958: US 41st Transport Btn and 245th Transport Coy moved in from Mannheim supporting the 7th Army units.
-1959: 91st Transportation Coy.
-1963: reassigned A-Coy 8th Aviation Btn.
-1965: US Army 8th Aviation Btn operating CH-34s, UH-1Bs and OH-13s
-1968: 295th Aviation Coy (Heavy Helo) operating CH-54As and its support unit, 326th Transportation Det.
-1974 205th Assault Support Helo Company (1974-1988) operating Chinook CH-47A's.and UH-1Hs.
-1983 USAFE 7th Weather Sqn Det 12

Demolished Nike Ajax missile site at grid 4957'16"N 810'40"E
Active TENCAP site at grid 4958'8"N 8 9'43"E

CH-47 Chinook

Finthen AAF closed 1991. Part of the airfield is now being used as a military training area and another part is being used for SIGINT purposes.
