Former NSGA relocated from Bremerhaven to Bad Aibling 1994. CDAA HF directionfinding and Comsec ops tasking. NSGA until 2003; then deactivated and over to US Army. Reassigned 18th US Army Security Agency Field Station and part of the Regional SIGINT Operation Center (RSOC) in the Cold War era. Deactivated and relocated to Griesheim. After deactivation of the unit in 2004 the area was handed over to the German authorities. Bundeswehr installed a communications unit on the premises which uses most of the antennas and several buildings.The remaining buildings and equipment will be converted into a Technological Park. Current status: Bundesheer Bundesnachrichtendienst and various civil investment groups.

Bad Aibling: „Seeland-Torfstich“ und „Objekt Orion“: Über die Aufgaben dieses Stützpunkts,das auf dem Gelände der Mangfall-Kaserne liegt, ist bekannt, dass dieser als sogenannte „Fernmeldeweitverkehrsstelle der Bundeswehr (FmWVStBw)“ getarnt ist. Nach Angaben Edward Snowdens sollen von hier aus Metadaten an die NSA weitergeleitet werden (enttarnt am 6. Juni 2014 durch den BND im Rahmen der sogenannten „Transparenzoffensive“)
