NATO Euskirchen

The Mercator-Kaserne at Euskirchen was built in 1936. After WW2 it was used to host homeless people until 1951. Then the Belgian army took over and renamed it Selzate-Kazerne until 1970. As the Belgian army relocated the German army Fernmelde weitverkehrskompanie took over and in 1971 the Bundeswehr Big Band moved in.

As of 1985 the facility was renovated and renamed Mercator Kaserne after the geograph and cartographer Gerhard Mercator.
The Mercator Kaserne is now home of:
- Zentrum für Geoinformationswesen Bundeswehr
- Amt für Wehrgeophysik
