The Tactical Missile-76 (TM-76) Mace missile system was operated by the USAF 38th Tactical Missile WIng in West Germany (1958-1969).
38th TMW used to be headquartered at Bitburg airbase, to be relocated at Hahn airbase and again at Sembach airbase.
Mace was a surface-to-surface cruisemissile equipped with a W-28 1.1.megaton nuclear warhead. Each missile had preset targets
Its launching sites were at Mehlingen, Enkenbach, Grünstadt, Wüschheim, Kirchberg Hundheim.(each site with 12 missiles), Rittersdorf and Idenheim (both underground and with 8 missiles).
This was former USAF Oberweis; MACE Missile Support Area (MSA). The unit was under command of 587th Missile Maintenance Sqn (Bitburg airbase) and supplied technical support and missile overhaul 1959-1970.
