Romania and the US agreed to base land based S(tandard) M(issile)-3 ballistic missile interceptors at Deveselu airbase to counter a possible Iranean nuclear armed ballistic missile threat. Here's the actual situation! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITQSKOny5Fk
The faciity is being operated by US Navy personnel as it concerns the USN Aegis missile system in ground based configuration.
A similar agreement between the US and Poland (NATO SM-3 interceptors) and Turkey (NATO missile radars) entered into force.

NATO BMD build-up:
- Turkey hosts a US BMD radar at Kürecik;
- Romania hosts an Aegis Ashore site at Deveselu Airbase
- Germany hosts the command centre at Ramstein Airbase;
- Poland hosts another Aegis Ashore site at Redzikowo military base;
- Additionally, NATO may deploy multi-mission BMD-capable frigates.
