Mińsk Mazowiecki; a former Warsaw Pact airbase with 1 PLM as operational unit; redesignated 1.elt (tac sqn) 2001. The unit is assigned to NATO's RRF.
Poland received its first MiG-29's in 1989 when they were delivered to 1.PLM at Mińsk Mazowiecki. These were upgraded in 1995 making them compatible for NATO ops. The aircraft were also repainted in grey colour scheme. Additional MiG-29s arrived at the beginning of the century when 22 former Luftwaffe MiG-29s were delivered. A number of aircraft entered service from 2005 after being overhauled at Bydgoszcz.
