In 1968 the base went on a reserve flying status when all activities concentrated on the nearby Ghedi Torre facilities
Montichiari became the airdefense unit for the Ghedi/Montichiari surrounding area
This is one of the 65 Gruppo Intercettatori Teleguidati (65 Guided Interceptor Group) missile sites
