5423'55."N 11016'46."W CFB Cold Lake, Alberta is the largest and busiest airbase providing multi-role combat forces in support of domestic and international roles. It's also a CAF fighter pilot training and a NATO forces training facility using the Cold Lake Range in the annual air combat exercise Maple Flag.
Cold Lake is homebase of:
- CAF 4 Wing
- 409 Tactical Fighter Sq operating multirole CF-18 Hornets
- 410 Tactical Fighter (Ops Trng) Sq operating CF-18 Hornets
- 417 Combat Support Sq operating CH-146 Griffons in SAR role
- 1 Air Maintenance Sq providing tech support
- 42 Radar Sq providing the Air Defence Control Facility in the Maple Flag exercises and training personnel operating the TPS-70 Radar / SatCom System.
- 10 Field Technical Training Sq or CF-18 technicians.
