Camp Butmir; until 2007 location of HQ former SFOR (stabilization force), a NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force in Bosnia and Herzegovina which was tasked with upholding the Dayton Agreement. It replaced its predecessor IFOR (implementation force).
SFOR was established in Security Council Resolution 1088 in 1996 and was replaced by the European Union's EUFOR Althea, in 2004 at NATO HQ, Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, BiH. A minority of US troops continue involvement in a limited capacity to hunt down alleged Bosnian Serb war criminals.
As SFOR deactivated the camp was taken over by HQ EUFOR hosting its Multinational Maneuver Batn (MNB), the Integrated Police Unit (IPU) and Mobile Training Teams (MTT).
