Purpose-built 'Strategic Airfield' opened in 1970. Now called Chegutu. Located near the town of Hartley, about 90 miles (145 km) south west of Salisbury. Infrastructure included a modern control tower, aircraft shelters and revetments and underground fuel storage facilities. Used by Hunters and also a regular base for SAAF Canberra B(I)12s in the late 1970s. Currently home to Air Defence personnel and equipment. Formerly home to the School of Military Training, which later moved to Chiredzi.
