Nike AD for Barksdale AFB consisted of 2 Nike Hercules sites, Both installed to provide protection to Shreveport and Barksdale AFB, which hosted Strategic Air Command bombers. US Army Air Defense Command operated the sites with Regular Army units (562nd ADA Regiment) from 1960 - 1968. Battalion HQ was located at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant located north of Doyline.
