Abu Musa is small island with a strategic location for small ships in the Persian Gulf.
It has 2 naval docking facilities for small ships on the E and W of the island as well as an airstrip and it is a heavily fortified strongpoint of the Navy Revolutionary Guards,
The air defense of the island consists of a SAM battery and AAA and fixed launch positions for C-802 anti-ship missiles. .
An increasing number of UAV ops has been reported in 2017-2019
