Former RAF Kelvedon Hatch was built in 1952–53 as part of the "Rotor" radarchain - a programme to improve and harden Britain's air defence radarnetwork - and served as a Sector Operations Center (SOC) for RAF Fighter Command. During the 1960's until 1991 the UK government (Home Office) maintained the bunker as an emergency regional government defence site. Currently a Cold War museum http://secretnuclearbunker.com/
