Former RAF Wattisham. WW2 bomberbase until 1942. Then used by USAAF until 1945 and in 1946 returning to RAF. From the 1950s until closure in 1993 used by units in Air Defence role operating Gloster Meteor/Javelin, Hawker Hunter, English Electric Lightning & McDonnell Phantom 2 aircraft, After the Cold War RAF transferred the base to the Army in 1992. Reroled as an Army Aviation airfield and renamed Wattisham Station 1993

Currently Joint Helicopter Command Wattisham is home to the British Army Attack Helicopter Force:
- 3 and 4 Regiment Army Air Corps, both under 16 Air Assault Bde
3 RAAC operates with 653, 662 and 663 Sq (all Apache). 4 RAAC does the same with 654, 656 and 664 Sq (all Apache)
- 7 Aviation Support Battalion REME supporting a Joint Helicopter Force (JHF) deployment as an Aviation Engineering Support Group (AESG), also under 16 AASLT Bde command

- 132 Aviation Supply Unit (Royal Logistic Corps)
