AIR / NATO Glons

Glons; - Control and Reporting Center, strength appx 300 military. One of the airdefense Control Reporting Centers (CRC) in NATO´s chain of command reporting to CAOC Uedem (GE) and is responsible for guarding the BENELUX airspace - Nato Programming Center (NPC) where Nato´s radarprogramming software is developed and finetuned - Nato Communication and Information Systems Agency http://npc.ncia.nato.int/Pages/default.aspx The basecamp at Tongeren (Ambiorix) hosting staff, admin personnel & motorpool has been closed. The Belgian Air Component's Control and Reporting Centre based at Glons with its old mainradar which deactivated in 2015. CRC moved to Beauvechain Air Base in 2018. The Belgian CRC is using digital radar data of the civilian Belgocontrol radars and the Marconi S-723 radar of the Air Component's Air Traffic Control Centre in Semmerzake.
