RAAF Scherger. ICAO: YBSG. One of Royal Australian Air Force's 3 'bare bases'.
Location: near Weipa, Queensland,
Opened 1998 Scherger is designed for operational units to move into existing facilities at little or no notice, in the event of defence requirements or for exercises.
As a 'bare base' Scherger's role is to provide the RAAF and other services with the necessary infrastructure to support forward deployed forces during crises.
